Another tool that I found interesting and more to do with technology is BrainPOP. www.brainpop.com is a really cool site that is free to educators. On this site there are activities, quizzes, and movies involved in the subject matter. Kids can use this site to learn more on subjects. This web site "creates animated, curriculum-based content that engages students, supports educators, and bolsters achievement". Topics that are provided are Arts and Music, Engineering and Tech, Social Studies, Science, English, Math, and Health. The activities are available in English or Spanish, for children K-3, and for ESL or ELL students.
This is a fun tool for everyone. I can see this being used in a middle aged classroom. The students need to be able to take it seriously. This can also be helpful outside of the classroom in an everyday life.
ReplyDeleteI went to a teacher seminar last spring and two physical education teachers from Fairview Elementary were there and recommended for the students to do a ear rubbing exercise (you can find some on-line) which helps to stimulate the brain and help the students to stay on task. Thought it was interesting.
ReplyDeleteThese are really cool techniques to get the attention of students while preparing them to learn. I like the idea of incorporating physical activity into learning!
